Bushwalking

There a number of bushwalking trails throughout the Dwellingup region varying in difficulty, length and duration to suit most walkers.
Maps and advice on all of the walking trails is available at the Dwellingup Dwellingup Visitors and Information Centre in Marrinup Street, Dwellingup.

Before starting out on any of these walk trails it is best to talk to the people at the Visitors Centre to ensure that you are prepared properly for your walk.

  • Bibbulmun Track  Visit the Bibbulmun website for more details
    Distance: 1000 kms (total)
    Duration: 8 Weeks One of the world’s great long distance track 1000 km’s stretching from Perth to Albany passes through Dwellingup. Dwellingup is one of the 10 towns that this track passes through on the meandering trail through the heart of the scenic South West of Western Australia. Dwellingup is a great entry point to the Bibbulmun track, with short sections are able to be completed from Dwellingup and return.
  • Chuditch Walk Trail
    Distance: 3.8 km
    Duration: Approx 2 hours
    This scenic trail meanders along Nanga Brook passing through the old Nanga Mill and town site areas. Start point is located at either Nanga Mill or the southern end of Nanga town site and returns walkers back to their start point.
  • King Jarrah Walk
    Distance:18 Kms
    Duration approx 5 hours
    The “King Jarrah” track is within the Lane Pool Reserve. Starting at the old Nanga Mill town site where a campsite is located in a grove of tall pines, including a carpark, toilets, barbeques and a picnic area. Highlights of this trail include the "King" jarrah, a 250 year old tree and great views of the Murray which runs alongside much of the track.
  • Island Pool Walk Trail
    Distance: 2.0 km
    Duration: approx 1 hour
    An easy going but winding trail features views over the Murray River and valley. The track starts at the upper car park at Island Pool Day use area
  • Cage in the Bush
    Distance: 4.5km
    Duration: 2 hours  
    This Trail starts at the old Marrinup town site following the path to No16. Marrinup POW Campsite, for a glimpse into the past.
  • The Early Day
    Distance: 3.9 km
    Duration: 1 hour
    This walk begins at the Dwellingup Visitor Centre taking you to places where the early mill workers and families lived and worked. You will get to see the old mill which has been on this site since 1910, the boarding house, which was originally located at Banksiadale, and was the mill managers home. Pass by the Dwellingup Cemetery and some of the oldest homes in Dwellingup including the old Marrinup School that opened in 1911. In spring the Heritage Gardens showcases its fragrant best and glorious colour.
  • The Holyoake Hike
    Distance: 6.5km
    Duration: 2.5 hours
    This trail will take you along part of the Bibbulmun Track, through working orchards to the Holyoake townsite.  You will see the remains of the mill, cottages and the school site. 
  • Marrinup Falls Walk Trail
    Distance: 1.5 km
    Duration: 45 minutes This short walk at carpark starts on Greys Rd and winds  through a variety of vegetation, taking you along Marrinup Brook to the falls, returning on the opposite bank.
